4th of July Editorial by Assembly Candidate Jesse Kremer

Dear Editor,

Let us take a moment to reflect on the real reason that we barbecue and celebrate this July 4th – the true principals that our nation was founded upon and where we have gone as a nation over the past several years.  The United States of America would not exist if it were not for brave volunteers who continue to take up arms in defense of our country and our freedoms.  As most of us are aware, there have been numerous scandals and travesties brought on by our own federal government over the past several months and years.  Justice is not being done for the men and women who raised their right hands in defense of their neighbors, their country, and their convictions.  Although I do not consider myself heroic, or even feel that I performed any great deed in Kuwait and Iraq, I did volunteer for service soon after I married Janet, just after we were brutally attacked on 9/11.  If elected to serve the citizens and veterans of the 59th Assembly District, I pledge to ensure that our state’s Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) museums, three nursing homes, hallowed grounds and veterans’ benefits are protected and maintained with the utmost care and respect.  If you should meet any soldiers or veterans this 4th of July, please applaud them or stand up to shake their hands.  Believe me, it really does mean the world to them!  Have a blessed and safe Independence Day!
